AMD sent Sapphire Dual-X OC card which uses their AMD HD 7790 GPU. The GPU is based on 28nm Bonaire processor with 1000MHz clock speed, 896 unified shaders and rated at 80w peak power consumption.

HD 7790 has 40% more stream processors and texture units in comparison with 7770 GHz Edition, along with more memory clock and bandwidth. The comparison of the specification of the 7790 with couple of more AMD HD 7000 series are as follows:

AMD aims their HD 7790 video cards against Nvidia GTX 650 Ti series card. AMD pairs 1GB GDDR5, whereas Nvidia uses 2GB GDDR5. For those who have been reading graphic card reviews for a long time, you know that doubling the memory compared to the rival’s counterpart at times will, may or may not have any effect. It all depends on the architecture and the core, presets, resolution… list goes on.

The non reference however is also another story. Sapphire does have a 2GB OC card variant, but the one which we’ll be taking a look at is the Sapphire HD 7790 1GB Dual-X OC card with 1GB GDDR5, with the GPU clock speed at 1075 MHz with a memory clocked at 1600 MHz.

This card has 175 MHz boost on the core’s clock frequency over the stock edition. The paper difference between the stock and this version of the card is the bumped frequency for the core clock and memory clock. If you’re wondering, the stock version uses 1500MHz memory clock speed.
